When Inevitable Becomes Imminent, You Better Hunker Down!
Let’s begin 73 years ago. The Zinn Project explains:
“On Aug. 19, 1953, Iranian Premier Mohammad Mossadegh was removed from power in a coup organized and financed by the British and U.S. governments.
…. Prime Minister Mossadegh roused Britain’s ire when he nationalized the oil industry. Mossadegh argued that Iran should begin profiting from its vast oil reserves which had been exclusively controlled by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. (now BP).
…. The Shah quickly returned to take power and signed over forty percent of Iran’s oil fields to U.S. companies.”
The Council on Foreign Relations continues:
“In the shah’s concept of modern Iran…. He had little time for clergy and saw them as a barrier to social progress. Iran’s cultural traditions were ridiculed by him and his technocratic functionaries. ….
Beneath the glitter of the 1970s, Iran was undergoing a religious revival. The corruption of the ruling elite…led many to reclaim their traditions. In the hands of enterprising clerics like Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, Shia Islam became an ideology of dissent.
…. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei assumed power in 1989…. Initially, he was cautious and deferential to other centers of power, such as the presidency and the seminary leaders in Qum. Soon, though, he revealed himself to be a harsh, uncompromising ideologue.”
Richard J. Maybury writes the U.S & World Early Warning Report and is an expert; particularly about the Middle East. As a Vietnam Veteran, who has seen the horrors of war, his March report grabbed my attention:
(35 years ago, Richard warned)
“The experience has never left me. I’ve never stopped researching the causes and effects of wars, and this article is based on that research. My Conclusion???
Peace will not be a realistic possibility for many years. The Mideast is a political lunatic asylum filled with pyromaniacs.
Saddam Hussein was not the disease; he was only a symptom. …. Saddam’s fate is almost irrelevant, the causes remain! Iran’s Khomeini wasn’t yet cold in his coffin before Saddam began plotting to…lead the Muslim world against the West. Hundreds more…are waiting in the wings.
…. The reason US officials were allied with Saddam…was that he was one of the least crazy devils who rule that part of the world. Any kind of peace proposal or cease fire will be only temporary. A major shootout between the Islamic world and the West has been developing for centuries.
Be ready for anything, the world has become chaotic.”
Fortunately, Richard had time for an interview.
DENNIS: Richard, thank you for setting aside some time for us. What you warned was inevitable 35 years ago has become imminent.
The US and Europe have been meddling in the Middle East for decades. The conga line of corrupt, despotic dictators is never ending.
How do you see the current Iranian conflict playing out?
RICHARD: Thanks for inviting me here, Dennis. You are one of the few people writing realistically about the swamp’s behavior toward people in the Mideast.
Let me start by saying my advice to DC about the Islamic world has always been – get out, stay out and leave those people alone.
Please understand there is no country of Iran. Iran is a place — like America’s Midwest. A key point: it is inhabited by 547 politically independent tribes or clans.
The government in Tehran is, as in all “countries,” a group of people who have come together to forcibly collect/spend taxes on themselves, their pet projects, and coerce the 547 tribes/clans to bend to their will.
How will it play out? There is no way to know. One thing we can be sure of. Whoever Trump allows to be the honcho of Iran will eventually blame anything that goes wrong on America.
DENNIS: This You Tube video discusses the Japanese Generals after the bombing of Hiroshima. The US demanded unconditional surrender. The hard liners wanted to “fight to extinction.” If they caused enough US casualties, they could negotiate and maintain their power.
The emperor broke the tie vote, choosing surrender. One general immediately fell on his sword; he could not fathom defeat.
So far, Iranian leadership remains defiant – “fight to extinction.” They have never negotiated in good faith, what’s to negotiate???
RICHARD: There can’t be a genuine negotiated settlement between Washington and Tehran because no one but a ruthless, highly fallible dictator would end up speaking for all 547 tribes and clans.
DENNIS: Theoretically, Iranians will hold an election. Trump won’t allow Khomeini’s son as the new leader.
A “religious revival” brought a “harsh, uncompromising ideologue.” I remember when the catholic church was adamant against birth control, gay marriage, female priests, etc. Over time, many Christian religions have changed with society.
Is it possible for the followers of Islam to do the same?
RICHARD: I don’t know. Remember, Islam is a global religion. There are vast differences among those in the Philippines, India, Iran, America and Sudan. I think all will continue shaping their local versions of Islam to their own unique feelings.
DENNIS: My oldest son, master’s degree in nuclear engineering and a former submarine officer, went nuts when the US allowed Iran to enrich uranium. “You do not need enriched uranium to run a power plant!”
Some retired CIA friends invited us to a workshop, hosted by a middle east expert, concerning Islam and the Holy Quran.
He explained, the Quran must be taken literally. Religious fundamentalists, like the Ayatollah, follow their teaching and demand the rest of the world do the same. He concluded, “When they say kill all the non-believers, they mean it.”
When asked why Iran wanted nukes, his straightforward response, “Nukes not only make it easier to kill non-believers – it helps millions decide to convert to Islam.” You could have heard a pin drop.
What are your thoughts about Iran obtaining nukes?
RICHARD: As explained in our April Early Warning Report, I believe they already have them. Like all countries, the rulers make the decisions. We don’t know who the rulers will be, nor do we know what options they will have remaining when the bombs stop.
DENNIS: You’ve provided well documented history, describing much of the world as Chaostan, “The land of great chaos.”
The west poked the hornet’s nest. Followers of Islam are now immigrating, with a stated goal of converting other countries into Islamic nations.
Could the entire world become Chaostan?
RICHARD: Chaostan is growing. My latest iteration is East Europe, all of Africa and Asia.
After the American Revolution, the principles of liberty began spreading around the world. With the global plague of socialism beginning in the mid-1800s, the spread of liberty was hamstrung or even killed off entirely, as in Russia and China.
Chaostan is the primary area that never got the principles. Unfortunately, American culture has changed. Most of the principles were almost totally erased from the government-controlled education industry in the first half of the 20th century. They’ve been replaced by democracy, which is mere majority rule, meaning mob rule.
The system of democracy is entirely different than the system of liberty. I feel the key reason Islam spreads is that it opposes democracy, as I do.
The Muslim world was never exposed to the System of Liberty. It was developing its own version, until it became fixated on fighting the invading Europeans during and after the Barbary Wars.
Yes, I think the entire world is becoming Chaostan — and even America is close to it now. Today hardly anyone understands the System of Liberty, which grew from the old British Common Law.
Government-controlled educators forget the two foundational Common Law principles: Do all you have agreed to do and, do not encroach on other person’s or their property.
Versions of these 17 words appear in all major religions. Teach them to the immigrating Muslims, and anyone else, and America will return to being America.
DENNIS: 35 years ago, you said, “something big is coming” and recommended 10-20% in metals. Any revisions?
RICHARD: No, not for now. However, with tariffs, harsh treatment and threats Trump forced on the world, it’s likely governments will unite to gang up on America. There will be a tremendous need for a US military buildup.
My favorite defense stock is Huntington Ingalls (HII) – the only US builder of supercarriers (over 80,000 tons). At the end of WWII, DC had 105 carriers, they now have 11. I feel we are in the early stages of WWIII; a sharp runup in HII is a slam dunk.
If a nuke happens, I expect HII to rise perhaps ten-fold. But then Congress will limit its profits and it will crash. So, I will ride HII up to, say, five-fold, then bail out.
DENNIS: One final question. You said, “The Mideast is a political lunatic asylum filled with pyromaniacs.” Would it be fair to say that the current action is taking away some of their toys until some new lunatics take charge? Might we have bought a few more years?
RICHARD: Yes, I believe so, but the world is awash in “toys” and people who hate the power junkies in DC.
It is easy for me to believe the regimes in Russia, China, Venezuela, Cuba, etc. would smuggle new toys to the Iranian regime ASAP.
With the division between pro-US regimes and anti-US regimes, Trump’s tariffs have likely pushed fence-sitters secretly to the anti-US side. We won’t know which governments will be quietly helping smuggle toys into Iran.
